Petite Sirah

A Crown Jewel

These grapes have produced some very sophisticated wines.

Sharing the same unique appellation as our Zinfandel, our Petite Sirah thrive in the rich volcanic soil of the Red Hills Appellation in Lake County, California. The luscious fruit is used both as a blending grape as well as a highly regarded stand alone.

Our 10 acres of Petite Sirah were planted in 1996 on St. George, Clone 3, at an altitude from 2200 to 2400 feet. We average about 45 tons per season with the Brix around 27 at harvest.

A Taste Sensation

As a stand alone bottling, our Petite Sirah has exceptionally concentrated flavors with tannin characteristics and full body. The color was said to be, “dark as a moonless night.” On the nose, new leather, dark fruit, and black pepper. The deep flavors of warm blackberries, pepper, and spice meet a firm but velvety texture that lingers for a beautiful finish.

Our Current Contracts

Our Petite Sirah is currently under contract with three wineries. We sell to Rombauer, Prisoner, and our vineyard designate is with Enkidu.
